FAQ

Questions we hear before the first meeting

Businesses that fail to register for corporate tax within the FTA's deadline face an AED 10,000 penalty. Registering early — even before you're required to file — avoids this risk entirely and keeps your compliance record clean with the FTA.

Yes — being in a free zone doesn't mean automatic exemption. Free zone companies must still register for VAT if they cross the threshold, and while Qualifying Free Zone Persons can benefit from a 0% corporate tax rate, this only applies to specific "Qualifying Income" and requires proper structuring to maintain.

VAT is a 5% tax on goods and services, collected from customers and paid to the FTA quarterly. Corporate tax is a 9% tax on your business profits above AED 375,000, filed annually. Most established UAE businesses need to register for both — they're separate obligations with separate deadlines.

It depends on where your customers are and how you plan to grow. Mainland companies can trade directly across the UAE with no restrictions, while free zone companies benefit from 100% foreign ownership and potential tax advantages but face limits on mainland trading. We assess your business model before recommending either.

Every business's obligations depend on its structure, revenue, and location — there's no one-size-fits-all checklist. Book a consultation and we'll map out exactly what applies to you, from VAT and corporate tax to audit and licensing requirements.

A straightforward mainland or free zone company can be licensed in as little as one to two weeks once your documents are in order — the timeline stretches when approvals from specific authorities, a physical office, or bank account opening are involved. We map out realistic timing for your specific setup before you commit to anything.
